The Patronat Municipal d’Esports de Palafrugell [Palafrugell Municipal Sports Council] (PME) is the local autonomous body responsible for the integral management of the town's sporting installations.

Its general objectives are:

• To provide a broad and diversified offer of activities, that reach all the sectors of the town.

• To promote and consolidate healthy habits through physical exercise.

• To address sectors of the population with special problems.

• To promote the infrastructures and sporting events so that they generate visitors, with the aim of favouring the tourist sector.

• To help schools and local sports clubs.

• To preserve, adapt and improve the existing equipment and propose the construction of new installations to cover the needs of local sport.

• To collaborate with other bodies to promote and motivate sport in the region.

• To favour training and divulgation in the area of sports.

The installations the PME manages, the characteristics of which can be seen in more detail on this website, are:

• The municipal swimming pool.

• The municipal stadium.

• The sports centres.

• The football field.

These installations can be used through becoming a member of the PME, paying individual entrance fees, renting the area, sports concentrations, and so on...

The activities the PME organises can be grouped into five large blocks:

1.- Activities that are developed during the academic year (October to June):

• Water activities.

• Municipal schools of sport.

• Physical activity for adults and the elderly.

2.- Summer activities:

• Water activities.

• Summer courses (tennis, sailing, golf, etc.).

• Summer Sports Campus.

3.- One-off leisure activities:

• Hikes and excursions.

• Introductory scuba diving courses.

• Recreational water park, and so on...

4.- Sporting events:

• Palafrugell – Costa Brava International Athletics Meeting.

• Festival of Rhythmic Gymnastics and so on...

5.- School activities.

The services that the PME offers are:

• Medical sports check-ups.

• Sports consultancy service.
